It’s still in barrel, but will be out in a few weeks”
Monthly update
Dear Investor,
The world financial markets have had a turbulent and negative start of the year.
Fortunately, fine wine has had an excellent start of the year with a market index performance of +1.0% in January 2016.
We have throughout a number of past newsletters, publications and articles mentioned the benefits of the low correlation of fine wine with world equities and bonds. This past month was once again a good example of this benefit. We have been happy to receive positive feedback from our investors:
“Thank you Cru Wine Investment for your support in this investment, you guys are on the ball!”
Monaco, January 2016
“Thanks for the good performance of last year and the very detailed end of year report”
Amsterdam, January 2016

It is important to put fine wine performance into perspective when comparing to other investment classes over a 10-year period (10% annual performance over 10-years):

Additionally we are happy to see our positive influence on behalf or our investors, as we have outperformed the market index by 5 percentage points since our start in May 2014:

Next to the healthy financial benefits of fine wine, it is also considered a fun investment. Investing through Cru Wine Investment allows you to benefit from a number of events.

Château of the month – Pape Clement
Château Pape Clement is one of the oldest châteaux in Bordeaux.  The first harvest took place in 1252, when it was owned by Bertrand de Goth, younger of a noble family from the Bordeaux region. Archbischop of Bordeaux, Bertrand de Goth became Pope in 1305 under the name of Clement V. This is where the Château inherited its name from. This historic estate is very successful today, with Robert Parker, for example, rating the 2010 vintage with 100 points. The success started when Bernard Margrez took over the management in the mid 1980s. He introduced more rigorous selection in the vineyards, as well as installing stainless steel vats and raising the percentage of new oak barrels used in the maturation process.

The vineyards of Château Pape Clement cover around 32 hectares, planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (40%) and small amounts of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle. The Cru Wine Investment Team was highly impressed by the quality of the white wine.
