Description

Benefitting from a varied terroir, Maison Camille Giroud makes a wide range of delicious wines cultivated from plots across the Cote d’Or. Founded in 1865 the house began a a specialist negociant where they had both a few hectares of their own vines alongside wine purchased from growers across the region.

In 2001 the maison was purchased by a consortium, enlisting winemaker David Croix to help with a huge revamp. Today their winemaking sees all grapes sorted twice. Reds are either partially or fully de-stemmed and vinified in stainless steel. The white grapes are vinified in 228-600 litre casks. Whilst only 15-30% of the maturation takes place in new oak.

Only three barrels of its 2018 Chambertin Grand Cru were made, one of which comprised new oak, seeing half the grapes being whole-bunch fermented. Expect an intense, perfumed nose, completed with a rich and complex palate, alongside silky tannins.
