The 2015 Carruades de Lafite has developed a little more energy since I tasted it in bottle, with blackberry, bilberry fruit and that slate-like note tucked in just underneath. It feels quite unchanged since I encountered it from barrel. The palate is well balanced and actually shows more energy and tension than the 2015 Duhart at the moment. Crisp tannin, quite edgy and certainly with a healthy dash of white pepper, it opens up nicely toward the finish, with commendable precision and length. It is one of the best Carruades that I have encountered in recent vintages.

A blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, and 7% Cabernet Franc gives the 2015 Carruades de Lafite a medium to deep garnet color. It delivers evolving scents of stewed black plums, black and red currant preserves, and tobacco leaf, plus suggestions of dusty soil, dried Provencal herbs, and graphite. Light-bodied, the palate has a racy backbone injecting energy into the elegant mineral and earthy layers, with a grainy texture and a lifted finish.

Cru Wine stores all its wines in-bond with LCB Eton Park. Wines purchased to be stored In-Bond (IB) or En Primeur are not available for immediate delivery. Storage charges will apply if you choose to store your wines with us. Duty and VAT will be applied if you choose to have your wines delivered to a UK address. If you live outside of mainland UK additional delivery charges will occur.
