Château Puy Ducasse is an estate situated in Pauillac, Bordeaux. Neighbouring the illustrious Mouton Rothschild, Lafite and Pontet Canet, Grand-Puy-Ducasse has plots spread throughout Pauillac, reaping the maximum benefits of its exceptional terroir. The vineyards constitute close to 62% Cabernet Sauvignon and 38% Merlot with the Grand Vin consisting of a blend of predominately Merlot complimented with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. A highly tannic wine, Grand Puy Ducasse is best enjoyed after about 8-10 years of bottle maturing. Expect strong aromatics with notes of sweet liquorice and piquant spices.

Beautiful texture here. Tannins are dense and compact but finely polished and silky. Seamless and even with length and succulence. Medium- to full-bodied. Power with elegance. Endless for this. Finally the best ever.

Inky colour, this is impressively structured right from the start, has a ton of dark chocolate, cassis, mint leaf, slate, has structure and character with a fresh cushion of acidity under the fruit. One of the more impressive vintages of this wine, worth looking out for, and should be good value. Hubert de Boüard consultant.
