Description
A welcome combination of violet and spices, laden with rich blackcurrant and cassis fruit immediately hits the nose when trying the first sip of Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste. Formed of 90 hectares planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (c.75%) and Merlot (c.25%), their terroir constitutes deep gravel beds over limestone, allowing the 38-year-old vines to thrive. The wine is aged in 75% new barrels for 16-18 months. The end result is a luscious wine of an intense red-purple colour whose palate is teaming with fruits that are met with rounded, smooth tannins that linger long after each sip.
