Description
Château La Clotte remains “a true, Saint-Émilion insider’s secret wine” (The Wine Cellar Insider). Laced with piquant minerality and enveloped in a rounded opulence, this is a truly gorgeous wine. At just three hectares, La Clotte is one of Bordeaux’s hidden gems. The vineyards are planted with Merlot (c.85%), Cabernet Franc (c.15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (c.5%) and are located on Saint-Émilion’s limestone plateau, not far from the illustrious Château Ausone. The grapes are then harvested by hand before ageing in 50% new French oak barrels for roughly 15 months, depending on the vintage. Château La Clotte is best after about 5-7 years of ageing, with peak maturity reach between 8-20 years of age after the vintage.
