Description
A true vigneron’s wine, Château Lassègue benefits from sun-drenched vineyards that host deep clay, chalk and limestone soils, with vines that average more than 40 years of age. The 24-hectare vineyards comprise Merlot (c.60%), Cabernet Franc (c.25%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (c.15%). After harvesting, maturation takes place in 50-70% new oak barrels. The result is a wine that draws on the fresh, elegant aromas of Cabernet Franc which are balanced by the voluptuous concentration of the old Merlot vines. Château Lassègue is best after about 4-6 years of ageing, with peak maturing reaching between 4-15 years.
