Tasted with Denis Dubourdieu at the chateau. With 12% alcohol, 215gms residual sugar and 4.2 gms total acidity, this is due to be bottled in June. It has a very well defined on the nose with notes of honey, brioche, fresh apricots with a touch of oyster shell. The palate is beautifully balanced with wonderful acidity, very elegant and refined with touches of barley sugar, orange rind, honey and a stem ginger. Utterly composed on the finish that is very similar to the 2010, this is a beautiful wine. Drink 2014-2030+ Tasted April 2011.

Pale to medium gold colored, the 2009 LExtravagant drifts sensuously from the glass with evolving notions of burnt sugar, apple pie, crème caramel and praline plus hints of honey-coated walnuts and powdered ginger. Very sweet, rich, full-on unctuous and densely laden in the mouth, the palate possesses almost electric freshness supporting layer after layer of dried fruit and nut notions, finishing very long. It won’t cellar for as long as some of the 2009s, but this sure is delicious right now.
