Very inviting aroma – pure fruit alongside a rather indulgent note of sweetness. Firmly structured with just the right level of fruit to fill out that core. Tight, embryonic yet already finely balanced. (JH)

Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, the 2014 Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru from Louis Jadot (Domaine Gagey) has a very subtle and refined bouquet with pure red berry fruit, minerals, rose petals and orange blossom—one of the most entrancing aromatics of the vintage. The palate is very well balanced with a slightly tart entry, driven along by the acidity but with sufficient fruit tucked in just below. It fans out gloriously on the finish and leaves you wanting more. Quite simply, this is one of the finest wines from this grand cru vineyard. Tasted September 2017.
