Description
Previously owned by the champagne house Laurent-Perrier, Château Malartic Lagravière was purchased by the Bonnie family in 1997, who still run the estate and continue to create elegant wines that are worthy of its Cru Classé de Graves status. The vineyard comprises 47 hectares that are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon (c.50%), Merlot (c.25%) and Cabernet Franc (c.25%). Its terroir constitutes gravel and clay with limestone soils. After harvest, the wine is aged in 50% new French oak, where it has limited skin contact. The Malartic Lagravière constitutes a well-balanced wine that continues to grow in complexity as it ages, seeing it develop the distinct mineral characteristics that are so usually typified by wines of Pessac-Léognan.
