Description
Situated north of the village of Catusseau in the Bordeaux vineyards, Nénin is, with over 30 hectares and a real 19th century château, one of the largest and most remarkable estates in Pomerol. The vineyard is planted to Merlot (c.78%), Cabernet Franc (c.21%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (c.1%). For a long time, the estate was planted with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, but instead has seen an increase in Merlot which has added depth and softness to the wine. The terroir comprises gravel, clay, sand and some iron in the soil, and the vines average close to 30 years in age, with some reaching over 50 years old. Power and elegance, complexity and balance, purity and refinement, are all characteristics of this spectacularly distinctive wine. Château Nenin is a wine that has excellent ageing capabilities, and really begins to show its true colours over time.
