Description
This stylish St-Estèphe has been run by the Cazes for generations, the same family behind Lynch Bages, and as such the winemaking ethos is handled very similarly to its illustrious Pauillac stable-mate. With an impressive track record and fair price, it punches well above its Cru Bourgeois status. The vineyard area, divided into two blocks north and south of the village of Saint-Estèphe, extends across 33 hectares and comprise Cabernet Sauvignon (c.70%), Merlot (c.20%) and Cabernet Franc (c.10%). In recent years the wines have become richer and softer with more concentrated flavours of fruit which has been the result of using more new oak barrels during the ageing process, as well as an increase in Cabernet Sauvignon in the final blend.
