Description
One of the leading estates in Margaux, Château Palmer has been creating superb wines for over two centuries. Ranked as a third growth in the 1855 classification, Palmer creates some of the best wines in all of Bordeaux, and rival the outstanding wines of their illustrious neighbour, Château Margaux. Their 66 hectares of vineyard are situated on a plateau of gravel, sand and clay soils and are planted with Merlot (c.47%), Cabernet Sauvignon (c.47%) and Petit Verdot (c.6%). Château Palmer is aged for 20-22 months in 50% new French oak barrels. From between 2008-2013 Palmer made the transition to biodynamic farming, which has seen a reduction in sulphur added throughout the vinification process. In turn their recent wines are teaming with freshness, whilst still retaining the richness and complexity that is typically associated with Château Palmer.
