Description
At just 17 hectares, Château Sansonnet is a modestly sized estate that is respected for creating an intense Merlot dominant wine, dripping in aromas of sour cherry and ripe blackcurrant. Its 7 hectares of vineyard are planted with Merlot (c.85%), Cabernet Franc (c.8%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (c.7%) and sit on a terroir of thin, shallow clay and limestone soils which comprise the Saint-Émilion plateau. The wines are aged for 16 months in 7% new French oak and amphora. Château Sansonnet has excellent ageing potential and really begins to open up after about 7-9 years of bottle maturation.
