I encountered some crumbly or dried-out corks on my two samples of this wine. The Talenti 2018 Brunello di Montalcino (with the black label) is fine and elegant with perfumed notes of dried fruit, blue flower, earth and balsam herb. The balance of the wine is very nice, and youll appreciate the delicate tannic structure and the lean to medium-bodied texture. Some 25,000 bottles were released. Fruit is selected from across eight hectares of vines on rocky, galestro soils.

Caramelised and sour cherries, aniseed, gunsmoke, candy floss, liquorice and toasted sweet strawberry tarts on the nose. Ripe and forward on the palate, structured and coursing with energy and life. High acidity is apparent from the first sip with tannins that are firm but almost melt into the sides of the mouth giving a wide frame. Tense, layered, persistent. Bold, almost too much giving a slight constriction to the finish with clear heft. New to the Place de Bordeaux this year. Director Riccardo Talenti.
