Readers looking for a taste of the quality and style of Angélus can check out the 2019 Temp DAngélus, which is a Merlot-dominated blend made in slightly larger quantities. It has a pretty, classy, medium-bodied style as well as ample cherry and currant fruits, notes of cedarwood and underbrush, medium body, and a clean, balanced, delicious style that will keep for 4-6 years, if not longer.

A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Tempo dAngelus is medium to deep garnet-purple colored. It gives up notes of baked plums, chocolate-covered cherries, and spice cake with hints of potpourri and pencil lead. Medium-bodied, the palate is packed with juicy black fruits and soft tannins, finishing refreshing. This is designed to be an approachable, drinkable wine in its youth and retails at around 20 euros in France. The vines are located in Cotes de Castillon (even though it is labelled Bordeaux), not far from Montlandrie, from several large blocks. Restructuring is occurring with the aim of being able to increase production.
