The critics are all in agreement that one of the best vintages in history for Brunello was 2016 .
James Suckling has been tasting Brunellos extensively since the 1980s and referred to 2015 and 2016 as “the greatest vintages ever”. Of the two great vintages, international critics Monica Larner and Eric Guido lean towards 2016 as the superior.
Situated just below Chianti, this region is famous for the powerful and age worthy 100% Sangiovese wines. The wines are aged for a minimum of 5 years before release and this is added structure from the oak is one of the reason these wines are so long lived.
