Opus One wine

OPUS ONE

The Opus One estate was created in 1978 as a joint venture between two of the wine worlds’ heavyweights, America’s Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton-Rothschild, with the aim of creating a Californian wine to rival a Médoc First Growth. It instantly became one of, if not the most famous Californian wine. Opus One has all the hallmarks of a great investment wine, with global demand, particularly in Europe and Japan, being synonymous with high quality Napa Valley Cabernet and consistent critic scores. Opus One winery produces two distinct wines. The flagship wine, Opus One, is a rich red Bordeaux blend that showcases the prominence of Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by the harmonious inclusion of Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. Following the tradition of esteemed Classified Growth Bordeaux wines, Opus One undergoes a meticulous aging process in new French oak barrels for approximately eighteen months. In they produce a second wine called Overture. Overture, another red Bordeaux blend, sets itself apart by being a non-vintage wine that artfully combines the fruit from multiple vintages, resulting in a truly unique and captivating flavour profile.
