Querciabella is a Tuscan 74 hectare wine estate producing wines in both the Chianti Classico zone and in Maremma Toscana. Five wines are produced includiong Batàr, a barrel-fermented and -matured blend of Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay; Camartina, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese; the Palafreno Merlot, and Querciabella, a Chianti Classico from 100 percent Sangiovese, which may be labeled as a riserva in some vintages. No animal-derived products are used in the vineyards or winery, making the wines suitable for vegans.

This 2016 is just so complete and balanced. The key was a not-too-hot summer and large diurnal differences at night which led to a longer, slower ripening season. Bright green-gold in colour, it has plenty of richness and concentration but in a focused, pure and precise framework. It has a wonderful seamless flow across the palate, so harmonious with a softly melting texture. Ing comments, Theres an energy to the 2016. I agree!

The dried-pear and toasty-oak aromas make this a very distinctive white. Ripe and generous, but with more than enough freshness. Polished, long finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
