Notably deep blackish purple. Heady nose that’s clearly not 100% Merlot. Very sweet palate entry. Very round and almost soft, an utter charmer but without an amazing depth of tannin and with miraculous freshness on the dry (not sweet) end. Still very youthful but it should develop a finish eventually. Ripe tannins.

Made by the team at Smith Haut Lafitte, the 2022 Château Beauregard is Merlot-dominated but includes 25% Cabernet Franc as well as a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon. This darker plum-hued effort offers lots of chocolaty darker fruits, some spice, chocolate, and graphite notes, medium to full body, and firmer, aggressive tannins. Its clearly outstanding, yet the tannins will need to be watched in this one. Tasted twice with consistent notes.
