Bel Colle, Barbaresco 2016

Bel Colle

Case Format: 6x75cl

This wine is ethereal, intense, fragrant with fruit and flowers and pleasantly spicy. It is dry, full, robust but smooth and velvety. The soil, altitude, and exposure are what makes Nebbiolo express this elegant and classic character. This Barbaresco D.O.C.G. Pajorè, grows in the Nebbiolo vineyards situated in the towns of Treiso. This MGA justly enjoys a solid renown thanks to the cult wines of Giovanni Moresco (today almost impossible to find) who was the first to make a single-vineyard wine in 1967.

James Suckling

Dried strawberries, frozen raspberries, tee tree oil, hibiscus and fruit tea come to the surface. The medium-bodied palate boasts finely grained tannins and no shortage of mouthwatering acidity. Drink now or hold.

Walter Speller

Treiso. Tasted blind. Concentrated youthful ruby. Deep, dark, spicy fruit nose. Full, dark-fruit palate with plenty of stalky, chewy tannins but there is plenty of fruit to balance it out. Quite a powerfully structured and concentrated wine that needs ageing. (WS)
