Bertinga, Punta di Adine, Toscana 2016

Case Format: 6x75cl

Drink To: 2030

Punctuated by a delightfully piquant smokiness, this seductive and characterful wine unveils the vibrant colours of Sangiovese. Revealing aromas of graphite, blueberry and tobacco, expect both a complex yet balanced Toscana IGT that exhibits the freshness and elegance of this noble Italian grape. Cultivated on the “Adine” plot, this wine benefits from high elevation, situated 540 metres above sea level, ensuring the perfect climate for the cultivation of this spectacular wine. Its soils comprise the heavy limestone and rich clay that is so often associated with Chianti Classico.

Established in 2015, but only making its first debut in 2020, Bertinga is an emerging Tuscan estate whose reputation is on the rise. Named “Best Emerging Producer” in the 2022 Guida Essenziale Vini d’Italia, the Tuscan winery has hit the ground running since its first vintage and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Producing only 5,000 cases per vintage across their entire portfolio, Bertinga represents an exclusive estate, whose wines are both hard to seek out and highly sought-after. Don’t miss the chance to bag yourself a hidden Tuscan gem.

Monica Larner

A pure expression of Sangiovese, the Bertinga 2016 Punta di Adine shows dark fruit, plum and dusty earth or toasted nuts with lots of density and dark saturation. There is a pretty earthy quality to this wine that ultimately distinguishes it in a crowd. Crushed flower, sweet spice, grilled herb and dusty chocolate appear at the back. Keep the wine cellared until your next post-pandemic party of T-bones and mushrooms on the grill. Production is 6,318 bottles, 150 magnums and 25 double magnums.

James Suckling

The aromas to this small-production, single-vineyard wine are marvelous, changing all the time from crushed berries and flowers to black truffles and fresh mushrooms. Full body and polished and chewy tannins. It’s tight and shows excellence. Long and flavorful finish. Needs two or three years to come completely together and soften. Try after 2021.
