Tasted blind. Blackish crimson. Some black cherries on the nose. Good edge and freshness. Very lively but still unformed. A hint of salinity. Just a bit scrawny on the end.

Henri Lurton runs this large property with meticulous care - by 2010 some parcels were being farmed organically and he was introducing a dash of Carmenère into the blend, although in this 2009 we see a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc. This splendid, deeply coloured Margaux is typical of the vintage, with rich, opulent blackberry aromas and a velvety texture. Its full-bodied and sumptuous, but only moderate acidity means that it lacks a little punch on the finish. Its accessible now, and should drink beautifully for some years to come.
