The 2020 Château Chasse-Spleen shows the appellation as well as the vintage nicely. Ripe cherries, leafy herbs, cedarwood, and some earthy notes all define the aromatics, and its medium-bodied, with a round, soft mouthfeel and a good finish. Its perfect for enjoying any time over the coming decade.

Deep cherry red. Subtle aroma of lead pencils, dark-fruited and attractively leafy. More fragrant with air. Some oak sweetness on the palate balances the herbaceous notes, though they are quite marked on the finish. Extremely gentle tannins and lots of freshness. (JH)
