Château Gloria is a wine estate in the Saint-Julien appellation of the Médoc wine region, just north of the city of Bordeaux. In 1942 the estate was taken over by Henri Martin, who began to purchase pockets of vineyard from neighbouring Grand Crus estates, to include Léoville Barton, Talbot and Gruaud-Larose. In turn, Château Gloria has continued to benefit from Saint-Julien’s exceptional terroir. Its vineyards contain Cabernet Sauvignon (c.65%), Merlot (c.25%), Cabernet Franc (c.5%) and Petit Verdot (c.5%) and is aged in both large oak foudres and 50% new small oak barrels. The resulting wine features washes of high-quality tannins and is teaming with cassis and warm cedar notes. This is an excellent wine that will continue to develop with age.

Cassis, violets, spicy wood, espresso, and a kiss of graphite all emerge from the 2023 Château Gloria, an incredibly pure, medium to full-bodied, ripe, balanced Saint-Julien. It shows the pure, elegant style of the vintage, has ripe tannins, plenty of mid-palate depth, and a great finish. This château hasnt put a foot wrong in some time, and they certainly did well in 2023.
