Case Format: 3x75cl

At the forefront of Italian winemaking, Il Caggio is a winery that founds its principles on the natural as well as the modern. Its wonderful vines epitomise Il Caggio, reflecting the purity and tranquillity of the nature surrounding the hamlet.

Ipsus has a distinguished power which represents its own unique terroir Fine and silky tannins are combined with red berries, cherries and the aromas of blood orange peel. Touches of violet, roses and lavender are seasoned with delicate spices and crushed stones. On the palate, with its tightly-wound texture and long, savoury finish, is an electrifying wine. A wine with great ageing potential, it is endlessly intriguing, and will not cease to delight you. It pushes the boundaries of Tuscan winemaking.

CRITIC REVIEWS

17.5
Jancis Robinson

‘Great vintage with lovely September and diurnal variation.’ Aged 24 months in tonneaux (70% new) and 15-hl barrel and 5 months in concrete, then 24 months in bottle before release. TA 6.2 g/l, pH 3.32. Lots more on the nose than the 2015, with real, intense Sangiovese character. Strong bonfire aroma, with a sweet, flattering, spicy palate. Then dry, intense essence of tanginess on the finish. Super-elegant and neat with nicely managed tannins. Firmer than the 2018 and 2019.

Super perfumed, gorgeous aromas of blackberries, mushrooms and bark with dried flowers and crushed stones. Pine needles and flowers, too. Full-bodied and linear, very tight and long. So polished and intense. Great length. Superb. From the heart of Castellina in Chianti. Try after after 2025, but already showing incredible clarity and focus. 3,500 bottles made.
