The 2022 La Commanderie, a blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from grapes planted on gravel soils, reveals aromas of caramel, violet, ripe berries and cocoa. Medium-bodied, taut and lean, with a firm finish, this wine, like many in this appellation, seems to have suffered from the drought.

Redcurrant, raspberry, vivid red fruits, this is enjoyable but a little overwhelming, the heat hits you upfront and you have to sit with it for a while to let the juice rise and the tannins soften and open. Has character, but needs time in bottle. 50% new oak.
