In the beginning of the 1960s, Giuseppe Rivetti, nicknamed ‘Pin’, and his wife, Lidia, were both expert and dedicated farmers with enormous appreciation and knowledge for tradition while keeping a curious interest in the future. They exemplified humility, respect, as well as ambition. These are the values that still define the philosophy of La Spinetta. In 1977 their children, Carlo, Bruno, Giorgio, and Giovanna, with the support of their parents, began the first production of their Moscatos, Bricco Quaglia and Biancospino. These would be some of the first single-cru Moscato to be produced in Italy.

Valeirano displays surprising minerality, supported with phenomenal structure. Hints of tea leaf and balsamic notes on the nose and palate recur. The finish is intense, while tannins are noble.

Showing the estates rhinoceros design with a blue label, the La Spinetta 2020 Barbaresco Valeirano Vürsù (in a heavy glass bottle) reveals robust aromas of dark fruit, cassis, spice, crushed rose and a heavier fruit note of kirsch or crème de cassis. This is a full-bodied Barbaresco from a hot vintage. It shows rich fruit weight, dusty tannins and good power. Production is 7,000 bottles.

Dark peaches, glazed cherries, Christmas cake, orange peel and wet earth. Full-bodied and very structured on the palate, where chewy tannins carry dried red berries long and spicy. Drink from 2023.
