The 2008 Clos Lanson is 100% Chardonnay, Extra Brut and made without malolactic fermentation. It skips out of the glass with cheery notions of grapefruit oil, apple sauce, and lemongrass followed by wafts of allspice and honeycomb. The dry, light-bodied palate has a racy backbone and very fine bubbles, finishing long and zesty.

Just love the nuanced character of this Champagne, from the toasted brioche aromatics, to the white pear, saffran, iris flowers, spiralling through to sea shell and salted cracker. Gentle but persistent mousse that draws the flavours out and makes you go back for more. A magical vintage in Champagne, and this is a library release from the 1ha Clos Lanson, now in its third year on the Place de Bordeaux. Hervé Dantan winemaker, Emmanuel Gantet director. The grapes are sourced entirely from grand cru vineyards.
