Nenin 2023

Case Format: 6x75cl

Drinking Window: 2046.0

Situated north of the village of Catusseau in the Bordeaux vineyards, Nénin is, with over 30 hectares and a real 19th century château, one of the largest and most remarkable estates in Pomerol. The vineyard is planted to Merlot (c.78%), Cabernet Franc (c.21%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (c.1%). For a long time, the estate was planted with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, but instead has seen an increase in Merlot which has added depth and softness to the wine. The terroir comprises gravel, clay, sand and some iron in the soil, and the vines average close to 30 years in age, with some reaching over 50 years old. Power and elegance, complexity and balance, purity and refinement, are all characteristics of this spectacularly distinctive wine. Château Nenin is a wine that has excellent ageing capabilities, and really begins to show its true colours over time.

Jeb Dunnuck

Blended with 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2023 Château Nenin is rocking stuff, offering a terrific array of black cherries, graphite, plums, chocolate, and tobacco, with some classic Pomerol damp earth notes. Its lively, medium to full-bodied, balanced, and elegant, with beautiful tannins.

William Kelley

The 2023 Nenin is very attractive, bursting from the glass with aromas of raspberries, dark berries, rose petals and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and supple palate thats pure and sensual, with a succulent core of fruit, sweet tannin and an immensely charming profile that promises a broad drinking window.
