This Brunello is an intense ruby red colour, with dark fruit aromas of black cherry, blackberry, plum and with sweet spices. Elegantly structured with a fresh acidity and elegant, smooth, tannins. Sassetti Livio Pertimali is an Italian wine producer based in Montalcino, Tuscany, particularly known for its Brunello wines. Livio Sassetti was one of the founders of the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino in 1967. The business has remained family owned and operated for three generations. The Podere Pertimali has 16 hectares (40 acres) of vineyards on the Montosoli hill, north of Montalcino.

The Pertimali estate is comprised of a contiguous 16-hectare plot on the hill of Montosoli. With an average altitude of 300 metres on clay and limestone soil, it is entirely planted with indigenous clones of the estate. Livio Sassetti crafts distinctly earthy and savoury Brunello and the 2016 leads with exotic spice notes of paprika and clove weaving through leather and dried berries. Currently austere, the palate is irony with loads of chalky Sangiovese tannins. Finishes with an overall drying sensation.

From vines in the historic Montosoli area, in the north, the 2016 exhibits some rusticity with saddle leather, cherry pit, licorice and celery seed. There is concentration on the midpalate with drying tannins, and notes of amaro, and dried orange peel. Classic and savory, the 2016 has a long finish. Drink 2024-2034.
