Description
Since 1363, historical notes referring to “CONTRADA EL PETROSO” have documented vine cultivation and wine production on this estate not far from the old city walls of Montalcino. Poor soil, particularly rocky, as affirmed by the very name “Pietroso”, which means a place that is rich in stone, exceptionally suitable for viticulture. The wine is clear, of a ruby to garnet colour, it has an intense but characteristic nose of red fruits and a hint of vanilla. The tannin levels are good with a fine structure. Pietroso wines are typically expressive of the territory and the Sangiovese variety; classic colour, elegant aromas, excellent structure and complexity, wines to lay down. This is small family run winery only owns 3.5 ha of vines planted exclusively with Sangiovese. All wines are aged and stored in the garage underneath the family home.
