2005 was a powerful year, and the wine was kept for longer in bottle and released two years later, after 2007 and 2008, which were more challenging years that produced more delicate wines. On those bases, by the time the 2005 Único was released, it was highly anticipated. The wine is indeed big, powerful, concentrated and quite tannic, but its also very good. However, it does not reach the finesse of the 2004. Curiously enough, the warmer years seem to have lower alcohol, and this, like 2009 and 2011, wears a 14% on the label. 2,391 magnums were filled in June 2011. Artwork José Guerrero.

Decidedly tight and taut. Lots of dry tannin. Slightly lacking breadth at the moment but there is a rich intensity of fruit density underneath too. Another wine for the future?
