40 of the 210 vine-growing hectares on the Vega Sicilia estate are used to produce Unico, which spends at least ten years between barrel and bottle, representing one of the longest ageing processes in the world. This incredible terroir, influenced by the Douro River and the unique ageing process, make their wines timeless when they age. A unique and timeless taste that has elevated it to among the aristocracy of the great classic wines.

It offers an infinite complexity that is gradually revealed, in every sip, the palate immensely silky and elegant, and has an ageing capacity that only a handful of wines in the world can claim.

Milk chocolate and hints of toffee underneath the ripe plum fruit and spiced cherries. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm yet very velvety tannins. Silky, caressing Unico. Long and supple, with beautiful balance. Tasted from magnum. Drink or hold.

The 2006 Único has always been a bit of a mystery to me, as I always felt it transcended the vintage character, and this magnum was not an exception. 2006 was very warm, but the wine remains fresh and has a moderate 14% alcohol. It has some grainy tannins, but its really very good. 2,552 magnums were filled in June 2012. Artwork by Antoni Tàpies.
