Klein Constantia

Case Format: 6x75cl

Max score: 98.0

With a history that can be traced back four centuries, Klein Constantia have repeatedly crafted outstanding wines, born from South Africa’s incredible landscape. Comprising a terroir of granite soils on slopes, complete with a micro-climate of cool ocean breezes, the South African estate has proven to be the perfect environment to create world-class wines.
Vin de Constance 1986 was launched in 1990 to instant acclaim, and international accolades have followed for every vintage since then. A rich and luxurious mouthfeel, the wine is full bodied, fresh and vibrant. The palate is balanced showcasing a perfect harmony between salinity, acidity, spice and sweetness. Concentrated with suspended density and infinite length, its dense flavours linger after each sip.

Alder Yarrow

Light yellow-gold. Smells of honey and sage with crushed stones and nuts. Moderately sweet flavours of honey, orange blossom and other white flowers have a lifted, cloud-like quality and a freshness thanks to fantastic acidity. A phenomenally long finish of flowers and honey turns slightly saline in the end. A tour de force of flavour multiplied by elegance. Effortless. (AY)

Butterscotch, lemon patisserie and peach aromas. Pristine quality to the texture, lively and thrilling, this is a serious, opulent and powerful wine, more on the spiced, nuanced side with aspects of dried herbs, wood scents and bitter lemon and orange with a touch of honeyed lychee. It feels supremely complex and characterful. Sophisticated, layered and balanced with some minerality, a slight graphite edge all of which adds to the whole. Its still extremely youthful but there is real sculpting here, a sense of precision, style and freshness. Well crafted with an extremely long life ahead. A wonder, and one of the best from the estate!
