CRITIC REVIEWS

The 2016 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru aux Combottes includes 30% whole bunch fruit and is matured in 20% new oak. It was showing some reduction on the nose although peering through, one can see pretty red berry fruit lying in wait. The palate is medium-bodied with quite rounded tannin and confit-like fruit, a rich and quite ambitious Combottes that leaves traces of salted licorice on the aftertaste. This has great potential but it will require time in bottle. Patience required.
