Crafted on super old vines averaging 70 years, with low yields, the wine of Bernard Dugat-Py represents some of the most lush, elegant and concentrated wine from the region. Comprising 13 hectares of vineyard, Bernard Dugat centres around a family home just below the Clos St-Jacques vineyard. Once belonging to the St Benedict’s Abbey in Dijon, their cellars date back to the 11th century, with the Dugats own personal winemaking history dating back to 1645.

Viticultural practices from the estate include the early picking of grapes, the inclusion of stems, the refusal of pre-maceration and the denial of temperature control after fermentation. In all, Dugat-Py are masters in low-intervention winemaking, with breath-taking results.

The 2000 Charmes-Chambertin boasts a violet-spice, and black cherry-scented nose. This dense, syrupy wine is medium to full-bodied and layered with powerful chocolate-covered black cherries. Its magnificent personality is luxuriant, well-structured, and exceedingly long. Projected maturity: 2007-2018.
