du Domaine de L’Eglise, Pomerol 2020

du Domaine de L'Eglise

Case Format: 6x75cl

Adorned with a beautiful garnet color, Domaine de l”Eglise develops a nose with a deep aromatic richness (among others blackberry, cherry, plum, spice and wood). On the palate, the wine is seductive and generous, fresh and fruity, harmonious and well balanced, with ripe and fine tannins.

Cask sample. Earthy note, chunky and astringent on the nose, and the fruit, while ripe, is definitely on the mushroomy side. Bit early for that sort of development, surely? Furry finish, with lingering smoky notes. Doesnt seem to have come together in the way that many other 2020 samples have. (RH)

Black berries and cherries with flowers and orange peel. Crushed stone. Some graphite. Iron. Flint stone. It’s medium- to full-bodied. Firm and polished tannins. Very typical and classic. Best ever? 96% merlot and 4% cabernet franc. Needs four or five years to come around. Try after 2028.
