Guinaudeau

Case Format: 3x75cl

The owners of f Chateau Lafleur in Pomerol, Sylvie and Jacques Guinaudeau, launched in 2009 a new project under the label G Guinaudeau wines. The Bordeaux vineyards, platend with 60% Merlot and 40% Cab. Franc, for the G Guinaudeau wines are located in the Fronsac appellation, but the wines are classified as Bordeaux Superieur. Vinification is traditional in cement vats andwith subsequent ageing in 33% new French oak barrels for 15 months. and the average production is 1,000 cases of wine per year.

The wine is produced in a soft, fruit-laden forward style. Guinaudeau G Acte 9 gives up kirsch, red currant jelly, roses and fresh blackberries with a touch of garrigue. The palate is medium-bodied, vibrant, bright and fresh with very soft tannins and a lift on the finish.

This is very structured and tannic, yet the tannins are soft and polished. Full-bodied, dense and layered. Pure merlot this year. Excellent quality. Creamy texture to it all. Limestone adds minerality. Drinkable now, but better in 2022.

News for fans: This will be the last “Acte” wine from Lafleur. But no need for sadness. This vineyard has at last come of age and has earned the right to its own name from 2018! Yay!! The new wine will be called Les Perrieres de Lafleur. Now the sad news: None of the Cabernet Franc survived the frost in 2017, so the wine is made from 100% Merlot this year. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Guinaudeau G Acte 9 is intensely scented of warm plums, baked black cherries and mulberries with hints of licorice, cloves, sandalwood and dark chocolate plus a waft of garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has fantastic precision and purity with a laser-fine line of racy acid and ripe, firm, finely grained tannins to support, finishing long and fruity. This vintage should age beautifully over the next 25 years+.
