Hubert Lamy, Bourgogne, Chataigners 2018

Hubert Lamy

Case Format: 6x75cl

The Lamy family have been making wine in Burgundy since the mid-17th century and the estate is ran by Olivier Lamy, having taken over from his father, Hubert, in 1996. Olivier had previously worked at many wineries around the world garnering experience, including the illustrious Méo-Camuzet. Produced from vineyards that lie on the upper slopes as the hill bends around towards Meursault and away from Saint-Aubin itself, Olivier uses no new oak in his barrels in order to preserve the intense minerality of the wine.

The 2018 Bourgogne Les Chataigners delivers aromas of lime cordial, white flowers and crisp green apple, followed by a medium to full-bodied, pure and mineral palate, framed by chalky dry extract. This beautifully made wine is a superb introduction to one of the Côte de Beaunes finest domaines.

Open and zesty, the citrus aroma is really vibrant – lemon and lime. Terrific depth of fruit married to mouth-watering freshness. GV (JH)
